Blame It on the Irish!

Wales was evangelized by Irish monks before the 6th Century, bringing the Catholic religion with them. Granted, dates and views vary. Some like to think the Romans did it, while others say the Romans were far too busy watching their empire collapse to go about looking for converts. As Celts, people in Wales enjoyed religion, kept it its proper place but followed their own set of purely Celtic laws that made other Catholic countries disapprove of them. Divorce was acceptable but not taking financial or custodial obligations for a child born out of marriage could drag a man into court. Land laws, animal laws, 'claim time' (pay, sue or steal to satisfy a debt), oh! the Celts loved law. Or didn't. In any case, their religion did not change till Henry 8th of England needed a different wife. So, the Irish showed up followed by the Catholic church, and then Law. Pour into a pot, mix with humor or revenge and enjoy the show!
